Spring Cleaning? Let’s Do This.

As a wise starfish once said, “The sun is shining, the tank is clean, and we are getting out of here!” (Okay, don’t come for me, it’s a Finding Nemo quote) But honestly, we could use a little bit of sunshine and fresh air with all this wintery weather! Ahhh, spring. It’s just around the corner and it is the perfect time to refresh and revitalize your living space.

Today I’m going to fly through my tips on how to tackle spring cleaning - from decluttering to organizing to deep cleaning.

Tip 1:

Start with decluttering. Get rid of items that you no longer need, use or love. Sort through your belongings and donate, recycle or dispose of anything that doesn't bring you peace. What do I mean by that? Well, I know we live in a very cluttered society. It seems that everything is trying to get your attention in a very small space. This can lead to complicated chaos. Whenever I’m deciding to declutter a space I have a keep, donate, or toss pile and either put them where they belong or walk them outta the house accordingly.

Tip 2:

Create a cleaning schedule. Plan out your cleaning tasks and prioritize the areas that need the most attention. This will help you stay organized and on track. Daily zone cleaning will help you stay on top of your home and in just 30 minutes you can take a deep breath and have a cleaned space.

Tip 3:

Focus on deep cleaning. Spring cleaning is a great opportunity to give your home a deep clean. This includes tasks like washing windows, deep cleaning carpets, and sanitizing surfaces. As you’re decluttering your space, take the time to wipe down surface areas that don’t usually get a ton of attention during the daily grind.

Tip 4:

Don't forget about the outdoors. Clean up your yard, sweep your sidewalks, and wash your outdoor furniture. This will not only improve the look of your home, but it will also create a fresh and welcoming environment.

Tip 5:

Get organized. Take advantage of this time to reorganize your home. This includes organizing your closet, pantry, and other storage spaces. Label items and use containers to keep things in place. You don’t have to go crazy and spend a ton at those fancy organizing stores. You can use things within your budget to contain the chaos and create peace.

Tip 6:

Take breaks and have fun. Spring cleaning can be a long and tiring process, so make sure to take breaks and have fun. Listen to music while you clean, take a walk in between sessions, or gather friends and family to help you get your home organized.
